What is Amaretto Syrup?

Amaretto is Italian for a little bitter. It is a liquor originating from Saronno (first prepared in 1525) made from peach stones, almonds, bitter almonds, apricot kernels and natural sources of benzaldehyde. On the other hand, Amaretto syrup is a flavored syrup that replicates the taste of amaretto liqueur.

Amaretto syrup is a non-alcoholic alternative to alcoholic liqueur, making it suitable for those who prefer not to consume alcohol or for use in non-alcoholic beverages. Amaretto syrup contains sweet taste of almonds with slight bitterness. Since Amaretto syrup varies from brand to brand, you may detect some spices or herbs in some brands.
