With so many coffee shops popping up across the city it’s nice to see some variety of places we can go. Funny enough heading to a cat café reminds me of being back in Japan, and surrounding myself with so many friendly cats. It’s an experience unlike any other. They’re also great for taking your kids if you have a busy household but don’t have your own cats or pets at home.

According to Google now, there’s only one cat café in Calgary for you to check out as Cafe & Mi is now closed. If you’re looking for a fun and relaxing date night activity, heading to Regal Cat Cafe will be your only option.

How Cats Can Boost Your Mental Health

  1. Stress Reduction: Interacting with cats can help reduce stress and anxiety. Petting a cat can produce calming effects and lower stress by releasing endorphins in the brain.
  2. Companionship: Cats provide companionship, which can reduce feelings of loneliness and depression. Their independent nature also means they require less attention than other pets, which can be beneficial for busy individuals or families.
  3. Therapeutic Effects: Cats’ purring has been linked to therapeutic healing abilities on human bones and muscles. This soothing sound can also help to relax and calm your mind.
  4. Routine and Responsibility: Owning a cat can provide a sense of purpose and routine, which is beneficial for mental health.
  5. Social Interaction: Cats can act as a social catalyst, promoting increased social interaction and conversation, which can improve mood and reduce feelings of isolation.

My coffee journey spans 15 years of diverse experiences. Starting from those first sips, my passion for the industry has grown steadily. I've enjoyed working at a local coffee shop, exploring cultures worldwide, meeting incredible farmers on plantation tours, and helping launch a family member's coffee roasting venture. Throughout this journey, discovering and buying coffee from local roasters to support community businesses has been a pleasure. Through Roast Love, I aim to create content that informs, raises awareness, and helps you, the reader, buy and brew that perfect cup of coffee.
